Vivian P. Ta-Johnson, PhD

Assistant Professor

Department of Psychology

University of Texas at San Antonio

I use natural language processing (NLP) to investigate social psychological processes across multiple areas including policing, diplomacy, persuasion, and others.

In my primary research, I use NLP to examine police performance in training programs and body-worn camera videos of police-community member encounters to improve law enforcement training, practice, and outcomes. A common theme throughout my work is promoting NLP methods to study social psychological processes that are challenging to study with traditional research methods.

I also study human-chatbot interactions in a smaller line of research.
